DSWD FOCAR intensifies  augmentation support to LGUs' COVID response

BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 5(PIA) - - The Department of Social Welfare and Development- Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD – FOCAR) is intensifying its effort to augment the local government units in the region in terms of responding to the needs of the population that are affected by the Coronavirus disease (COVID – 19).

For January alone, DSWD – FOCAR already released for augmentation 11,763 Family Food Packs (FFPs) amounting to around P6.19 million, of which 10,910FFPs were for COVID – 19 response operations.

Some 5,500 FFPs were provided to Mountain Province for COVID response in the municipalities of Bontoc, Sagada and Sabangan; 3,400 FFPs were delivered to Kalinga; 722 FFPs for Abra; 500 for Apayao; 334 for Baguio – Benguet and 14 FFPs were provided for Ifugao.

Prepositioning of FFPs is being conducted this early days of February   wherein 1,500 FFPs    will go to Abra; 1,700 to Kalinga; 420 for Buguias in Benguet, and 700 for Apayao. 700 FFPs and 50 hygiene kits were prepositioned in Mountain Province.

DSWD – FOCAR also targets the prepositioning of 16,868 FFPs in the different production hubs in the provinces of Cordillera and at its Regional Warehouse in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Production or repacking of FFPs is also ongoing at the regional warehouse with the help of volunteers.

Just recently, the Kings College of the Philippines in Barangay Pico of La Trinidad also allowed the use of its facility as FFP production hub for DSWD FOCAR.  

DSWD FOCAR Regional Director Leo Quintilla assured that along with the implementation of their regular programs and services, their department will continue to support LGUs in helping the communities that are affected by the COVID pandemic.

“Ang focus ngayon ng DSWD FOCAR ay matugunan ang pangangailangan ng mga komyunidad at LGUs sapatuloynaepektong COVID – 19 pandemic. Kasama na ditto ang pag hahanda ng mga plano para sa recovery at rehabilitasyon. At tuloy pa rin ang iba’t – ibang programa ng ahensiya katulad ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Supplementary Feeding, Sustainable Livelihood Program, Social pension at iba pa”, Quintilla said.

Meanwhile, under  the Bayanihan 2, DSWD FOCAR is  processing the Emergency Subsidy Assistance under the Social Amelioration Program for the qualified beneficiaries in areas that implemented granular lockdowns.

Under Bayanihan 1 or the  Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, DSWD – CAR facilitated the provision of P5,000 SAP subsidy to 298,176 qualified families in the  Cordillera. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
