KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, Feb. 1 (PIA) – Wanting to have a right start of fiscal year 2021, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau here (MGB) met with mining firms operating in Region 12 to iron out technical issues on their operation, an official said.
MGB XII OIC-Regional Director Felizardo A. Gacad, Jr. said that he has convened officials of registered mining companies operating in different areas of Region 12 in a technical conference held on January 26-27, 2021, at the MGB 12 Conference Room in Koronadal City.
The meeting aimed to open opportunities for the mining sector in the region to discuss with the local environment officials issues confronting their continued mining operations.
During the meeting, Engr. Gacad reminded the mining officials of Eastern Star Resources (ESR), Bawing Cultural Communities Development Cooperative (BCCDC), ALZONA, Peregrino Mineral Resources Inc., (PRMI) and Kiamba Mining Corporation (KMC) to comply with the mandatory requirements required in DAO 2020-10 or the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 7942, the Philippine Mining Act of 1995.
The meeting hoped to help the companies experience a hassle-free operations, said Gacad.
Gacad pointed out that MGB 12 is willing to provide mining operators with technical assistance to facilitate timely submission of their requirements.
Records showed that as of January 31, 2021, there are 14 registered permits/contracts in Region XII lodged at MGB 12’s Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division (MSESDD) and Mine Management Division (MMD).
These include one Financial or Technical Assistance Agreement (FTAA); five Mineral Production Sharing Agreements (MPSA); two Mineral Processing Permits; four Exploration Permits (EP); and two Industrial Sand and Gravel Permits (ISAGP). (AC Agad PIA 12/With reports from MGB 12)
