PIA, DOH-CHD train gov't communicators on COVID-19 vaccination program

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union Feb 28 (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency (PIA-1) in the Ilocos in partnership with the Department of Health-Center for Health Development in the Ilocos (DOH-CHD 1) trained government communicators in the region on February 26, here.

 

With the aim to fully understand and explain the vaccination program, PIA-1 has invited the officers and members of the Association of Regional Government Information Officers and interested participants from the regional line agencies on the said training.

 

Further, the training is dubbed as COVID-19 Vaccine Communications Trainers' Training and was conducted through an online platform Zoom gathering about 85 participants.

 

“We are here to support and further explain the program of DOH-CHD 1 because there are a lot of issues and concerns that our citizens need to know, and we want that as a government agency, we will fight fake news and dismiss the disinformation about the vaccines that are circulation in our communities,” said PIA-1 Regional Director Jennilyne C. Role.

Further, she also encouraged the participants to help the government in creating awareness only on the facts about the vaccination program.

 

“Our roles as government communicators are very crucial in this program because we need to explain and inform the people of the benefits of being vaccinated,” Role added.

 

The 4-hour training provided the participants an overview of the plans of the government on how to roll-out and cascade the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine, its demand generation framework for action and how the reportage and communication would flow and reach the grassroots level.

 

Moreover, the organizers also engaged the participants through answering the pre and posts tests about the program as well as acceptability of the vaccine survey.

 

As a result, most of the participants have signified their interest in availing the vaccine and have pledged their support in disseminating the programs in their respective agencies.

The same training for the government communicators in the provinces were also conducted since February 16 covering the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan through PIA’s provincial information centers.

 

On March 4, the training for government information officers is set in Ilocos Norte to further promote the vaccine. (AHFF/PIA-1)
