DAVAO CITY, Feb. 3 (PIA)- The chief of the Task Force Davao confirmed that since last week, their checkpoints in Barangays Sirawan, Lacson and Lasang no longer scan the Davao QR codes of passengers going to the city.
Colonel Consolito Yecla, commander of the Task Force Davao said they are strict on checking on the travel documents of individuals entering Davao City.
He said the people are informed on the kind of documents they need to present especially if they are classified as persons not allowed outside their residences.
“This caused a little traffic, but we have to do it to inform the people on the requirements and to prevent the entry to the city of non-essential travelers,” Yecla said.
He said the members of the Task Force Davao allot time to check on their travel documents and baggage for passengers of buses and jeepneys.
Yecla said baggage passes through the X-ray machines as passengers are checked through metal detectors while motorcycle drivers are requested to open their compartments for inspection.
He stressed passengers must show proof of their transactions in the city.
“Under Executive Order 63-B, people from outside Davao City must have appointment orders from their corresponding service providers in the city, citing the legality of their transaction,” Yecla said.
He said going to the malls is not allowed if the items to be bought by persons outside Davao ‘city are available in their place.
Yecla observed the requirements are more lenient for Mindanao intra-regional travelers since IDs and travel authority are needed but travelers from Luzon and Visayas must present three-day negative RT-PCR swab result.
He also said Davao QR Codes are needed only once people need to enter establishments in the city.
Yecla revealed the deployment of more security in 15 bus stops in the city, following the explosion of an improvised explosive device in Tulunan, North Cotabato particularly at the Matina junction, crossing NCCC Ma-a, Buhangin Gym, Panacan, Matina Crossing, Roxas Boulevard, Almendras Gym, Magsaysay Park, Agdao overpass, crossing Ulas, Bangkal junction, Mintal Police Station, Calinan Public Market, Crossing Bayabas, Toril and the Davao City Overland and Transport Terminal (DCOTT).
He also reminded bus companies about the Culture of Security, the community-based campaign of the city government against terrorism, to be mindful of their surroundings for suspicious individuals or things around and immediately report to the authorities.
"We request passengers/vendors and others in bus stop areas to report unattended baggage and for them not to leave their baggage unattended to avoid panic. We request everyone to practice the Culture of Security while TF Davao commits itself towards ensuring the security of Dabawenyos even amid this Covid-19 pandemic," Yecla said. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G.
