Tricycle, jeepney drivers in Dagupan receive aid from nat’l gov’t


DAGUPAN CITY, Feb 27 (PIA)- -  More than a thousand jeepney and tricycle drivers  and operators in Dagupan City received aid from the national government through Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go.

 


In his visit to Dagupan City Friday, Senator Go led the distribution of assistance to the city’s marginalized sector, whose economic plight were disrupted due to the corona virus  (COVID-19) pandemic.

 


Done in several batches, the beneficiaries received P5,000 cash, grocery items, and a box of relief items each from the Senator through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s assistance to individuals in crisis situation (AICS).

 

More than a thousand jeepney and tricycle drivers  and operators in Dagupan City received aid from the national government through Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (PIA)


The AICS is part of the DSWD's protective services for the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable or disadvantaged individuals.

 


“Minsan lang tayo mabuhay sa mundong ito. Kung ano ang tulong na magagawa natin para sa ating kapwa tao ay gawin na po natin ngayon. Kami po ni Pangulong Duterte ay handang  magserbisyo. Ang serbisyo para sa tao ay serbisyo sa Diyos,” Senator Go said during the activity held at the Dagupan City National High School covered court.

 


The Senator also gave out 25 bicycles and 25 computer tablets for the affected families and  pairs of shoes to the beneficiaries.

 


‘Hindi pa pinapayagan ni Pangulong Duterte ang face-to-face classes kaya itong mga tablet para sa  ating mga kabataan,  mag-aral kayo ng mabuti. Konsuelo ng magulang kapag kayo ay  nakapagtapos.,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mayor Brian Lim thanked President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Go for bringing the much-needed assistance to Dagupan City.

 


Earlier, the Senator visited the Malasakit Center situated  at the Region I Medical Center also in the city and proceeded to the Dagupan City Plaza to give assistance to some 600 market vendors and 400 boatmen whose livelihood were affected by the crisis. (JCR/VHS, PIA Pangasinan)
