435 COVID-19 vaccines arrive in Vizcaya

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, March 6 (PIA) - At least 435 COVID-19 vaccines have arrived at the Region 2 Trauma and Medical Center(R2TMC) in this town in preparation for the vaccination implementation for their health workers.

Dr. Napoleon Obania, R2TMC chief, said the vaccines arrived at 11 AM Saturday and were immediately stored at a designated facility.

"We hope to consume these vials by next week as the number of our health workers at the R2TMC who have signified their intention to have a shot increased from 200 to more than 400," he said.

Obania said the initial allocation of the Sinovac vaccines from the Department of Health(DOH) is expected to be doubled in the next delivery as they will be requesting for additional vials for the first and second doses.

"We will be sending back the empty vials to the DOH as part of accounting procedures and as their basis for sending another batch of Sinovac vaccines for our health workers," he added.

Obania further said they will be asking for another number of vials for their 1,100 health workers.

"We have also included 5 percent allocation above the number of our health workers as part of our contingency plan," he said. (ALM/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
