SAN JOSE, Antique, March 31 (PIA) - - Bishop Marvin Abrea Maceda of the Catholic Diocese of San Jose de Antique enjoined everyone to offer fervent prayers in this Holy Week for the country and the world in general to overcome this pandemic.
“We, at the Catholics Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), call for every Catholics to continue praying the Oratio Imperata not only in churches but also in homes and communities,” he said.
Everyone is urged to pray to God that the solutions to this problem will be known at the soonest possible time, Bishop Maceda said.
He also echoed the call for each one to open their hearts and help those who are in need. Many lost their jobs, poor families have nothing to eat while some are struggling for daily survival.
"Some of these people might be in your communities and they need your help," he added.
Maceda also reminded the people to follow the health protocols imposed by health authorities and the government in general.
Aside from the wearing of facemask/face shield, frequent washing of hands, physical distancing, the Bishop also urged everyone to cooperate with the Provincial Health Office and the Municipal Health Offices with the contact tracing that they have been doing for the past weeks.
"Contact tracing is no joke,"he said, noting the rigors of the job and risk it has given to the workers.
Maceda also said "Everyone can do their share by informing the health authorities of their conditions when they are not feeling well. By doing this, we do not only help ourselves and our families but we are also helping one another in our fight against COVID-19."
In this Holy Week, the Bishop encouraged everyone to offer these sacrifices to God with the hope that this occasion will lead everyone to a more intimate relationship with Him. (JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique)
