ROXAS CITY, Capiz, March 31 (PIA) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office No. 72 is reminding the taxpayers in the province that the deadline of 2020 Annual Income Tax is on April 15 this year.
“We encourage the taxpaying public to pay their taxes earlier than the said deadline in order to avoid rush in waiting in long queues in the banks or other payment centers. Also, this is to prevent filing and paying late and incurring penalties,” said BIR RDO No. 72 head Eralen De Aro.
The district office has set-up a tax assistance centers at the ground floor of Gaisano City Grand Mall along Arnaldo Boulevard and at the ground floor of Robinsons Place – Roxas in Pueblo de Panay, all in the city.
The service centers will be available until April 15, from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00.P.M.
“This is to assist the taxpayers of the upcoming tax deadlines. You have queries or questions, you may visit any of the two places. We are very happy to serve you,” De Aro said.
The BIR issued a Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 41-2021 informing the taxpayers that filing and paying the taxes of tax due falling in the period March 22 to April 30 may be made anywhere even outside the jurisdiction of the RDO where the taxpayer is registered.

“Most of business are affected with this pandemic and they are operating in a limited capacity. Thus, the memorandum was released for the convenience in filing and payment of their returns.” De Aro noted.
Last February 17, the BIR kicked off its 2021 Tax Campaign with the theme - Sama-sama sa Hamon ng Panahon: Buwis Ko Para sa Pilipino.
“With this year’s theme, rest assured that whatever obstacles and challenges that the District Office will face, the revenuers of BIR Roxas City will continue their civic duty which is to collect the correct taxes to fund government plans and projects to better serve the Filipino people,” she added.
The BIR is also reminding taxpayers to strictly observe the health protocols like the mandatory wearing of face mask, social distancing and practice of good hygiene when transacting at the BIR and its tax assistance centers.
