KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, Mar. 2 (PIA) -- The One-Stop Service Center for OFWs (OSSCO) in Koronadal City is set for reactivation in April to provide overseas Filipino workers and would-be OFWS better access to services they need.
Just recently, DOLE XII Regional Director Raymundo Agravante called a meeting of agencies involved in the operations of the one-stop shop to strategize approach and improve operations of the said collaboration toward reactivating the full functions of the said office.
During the meeting, member-agencies agreed to redeploy personnel to the said office.
It was also agreed that DOLE will provide personnel who will assist agencies with online operations, that Koronadal City's Public Employment Service Office will deploy additional staff who will help in monitoring of OFW clients.
Members also recommended the creation of an OSSCO referral system as well as some improvements in the OSSCO Office prior to the relaunch.
“This is a great move in bringing our services closer to our clients and stakeholders especially the Overseas Filipino Workers who were also hardly hit by pandemic. We are also appreciative of the City Government to its generosity in providing us an office which is material to smooth operation of the OSSCO,” said RD Agravante.
OSSCO was established to gather agencies involved with frontline services for OFWs and individuals seeking employment abroad in one place. This initiative aims to shorten the time of processing documents and reduce transportation moving from one office to another.
Participating agencies include the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, Bureau of Immigration, Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), Philippine National (PNP), and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)
In Koronadal City, the OSSCCO is located at the 4th Floor of the City Hall. It started operations in November, 2016
However, in 2020, because of restrictions due to the coronavirus disease pandemic a number of OSSCO-member agencies opted to cancel physical operations at OSSCO-Koronaddal City and shifted to online engagement with clients. (CDGamboa-DOLE XII/DED-PIA XII)
