DPWH starts rehab of Iligan national highway

ILIGAN CITY, Mar. 4--The Department of Public Works and Highways through its Lanao del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office (DPWH-LN2 DEO) is currently implementing a road rehabilitation activity along the national highway of Iligan City.

The road repair project stretches from barangay Dalipuga up to the National Steel Corporation (NSC) complex in barangay Suarez covering more than 17-kilometers of the Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan national highway.

District Engineer Alykhan Ali (rightmost) personally monitors the on-going road rehabilitation activity conducted by DPWH along the national highway of Iligan City.

“We wanted to start this road rehabilitation activity much earlier but Tropical Storm Auring came and we had to adjust our schedule. With March promising hot weather, we are moving full speed ahead with our repair of Iligan’s national highway," said District Engineer Alykhan Ali.

Maintenance Point Persons assigned in the affected highway segment have already identified the road portions for reblocking and repairs.  The maintenance team aims to complete the pavement rehabilitation by the end of March 2021.

The Lanao del Norte 2nd DEO is also conducting asphalt overlay operations along a portion of the Lanao del Norte Interior Circumferential Road, portion of Santa Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan Road, and along barangay Santa Felomina national highway.

“We are simply following the three directives of Secretary Mark Villar - reduce travel time, improved road quality and safety, lives and properties must be protected from natural disasters. By conducting this road rehabilitation project, we hope to significantly improve the quality of Iligan’s national highway and its road safety resulting in shorter travel time," Ali added.
