More vaccines reach Bacolod City, Negros Occidental

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, March 16 (PIA) –- Additional vaccines arrived for Bacolod City and Negros Occidental over the weekend as part of the vaccination roll out for active medical frontliners against the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

Initial 312 vials of AstraZeneca vaccines arrived March 12 at the BREDCO Port via roll-on/ roll-off vessel Our Lady of the Philippines Navistar Two.

Each vial of AstraZeneca contains 10 doses, which according to Department of Health Center for Health Development 6 head of Infectious Disease Cluster Dr. Mary Jane Roches G. Juanico, will be good for 8-9 frontliners.

On March 13, Dr. Benjamin Gonzaga is the first medical doctor to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine with a family of doctors- Eli, Joyce and Joseph Cong, and five Barangay Health Workers- Excelsa Landero, Virginia Magbanua, Rupina Arceña, Annabele Regacho, and Suzette Ico.

These vaccines were allotted by the national government to Bacolod City through the DOH-6.

Another shipment of 840 of Sinovac reached Bacolod City, March 13 at the BREDCO Port through the Philippine Coast Guard vessel BRP Cape Engaño.

Meanwhile, for Negros Occidental, an additional 2,590 Sinovac Vials, allotted by the national government also arrived March 13.

The vaccines were brought immediately by the Provincial Incident Management Team led by Dr. Zeaphard Caelian, to the Provincial Health Office cold storage facility along Gatuslao Street in Bacolod City.

The provincial government has already received 5,180 Sinovac doses from the national government as of March 14. *(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
