NQC invites public to 18th Countdown to 500 Lecture on March 5

PARAÑAQUE CITY, March 3 (PIA) -- The National Quincentennial Committee (NQC) is inviting the public to join its online lecture dubbed, “Countdown to 500” on Friday, March 5 at 10 a.m., in preparation for the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines (2021 QCP).

In the 18th Countdown to 500 Online Lecture, Dr. George Emmanuel Borrinaga of University of San Carlos will discuss the "War God of Homonhon and the arrival of Magellan." Homonhon is an island in the province of Eastern Samar on the east side of Leyte Gulf, and approximately 670 southeast of Manila.

The Online Lecture series is a special program brought by the National Quincentennial Committee, Office of the President of the Philippines, and the Presidential Communications Operations Office.

Through the online lectures, participants will learn and imbibe 2021 QCP’s theme of Victory and Humanity.

According to the NQC, "Victory" represents the triumph of Filipino ancestors since the Battle of Mactan, while "Humanity" embodies the kindness of the people of Homonhon when they showed hospitality to the crew of the Magellan-Elcano expedition when they arrived on their shores.

The lecture will be hosted by the NQC. To join, just go to this link: https://www.facebook.com/events/469105877802041/?active_tab=discussion. (PIA- NCR)
