CALOOCAN CITY, March 3 (PIA) -- In its bid to complete the rollout for the CoronaVac doses allocated for 800 police medical personnel this week, a senior Philippine National Police (PNP) official said at least 305 of its medical frontliners have already been inoculated as of today.
PNP Deputy Chief for Administration and concurrent Commander of its Administrative Support for COVID-19 Task Force (ASCOTF) Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said they expect the number of vaccinated PNP personnel to rise as 200 more are still scheduled to receive their anti-COVID shots this morning.
Eleazar said a total of 125 PNP frontline personnel have been vaccinated on Monday and another 180 on Tuesday.
However, 80 healthcare workers who were supposed to get the vaccine earlier did not show up.
“Most of them are for clinical reasons but they can still go back for re-screening,” said Eleazar, explaining that the PNP has targeted at least 200 vaccinations per day in order to avoid overcrowding as it expects to finish the vaccination rollout this week.
Eleazar also noted that the PNP has currently logged 48 new cases, while 446 patients and 17 others are recuperating in quarantine facilities and hospitals, respectively.
Earlier, PNP Chief, General Debold Sinas said 800 vaccine doses were initially allotted for the police force's health workers, particularly those working as healthcare workers at the PNP General Hospital in Quezon City.
Latest data show that recoveries among PNP personnel who got infected with COVID-19 comprise 95.7 percent of 11,420 cases in the police force.
As of Tuesday night, there were 463 active cases, of which 29 have recovered, pushing the total recoveries to 10,926 and 31 deaths. (PIA NCR)
