PUDTOL,Apayao, March 13(PIA) -- Mayor Hector Reuel Pascua called on his constituents to continue to be vigilant and follow all the health and safety protocols against the COVID-19 as he confirmed he tested positive of the virus.
“It is with a heavy heart to inform the general public that I, unfortunately, have tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing RT-PCR testing,” Pascua said in a statement issued on March 11, 2021.
Pascua is the 19th COVID-19 confirmed case in the municipality.
The mayor said that while he has been strictly following health and safety protocols, he still acquired the COVID-19 virus possibly due to the stress of work or due to the different activities he had been attending for the municipality.
“You all know me to be active, always “on the go.” I make sure to personally attend to matters relative to developmental plans and dialogues that concerns the municipality and in doing so, I am risking and exposing myself to people coming from different government agencies of different places,” he said.
He is asking all those who have come in close contact with him recently to communicate with the Pudtol Rural Health Unit Contact Tracing Team and cooperate with the requirement of limiting movement, isolation and undergoing swab testing if needed.
The mayor has gone through clinical assessments due to mild symptoms and is currently quarantined at the Provincial Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility in Payanan, Luna in Apayao.
He assured that he will be remotely monitoring and supervising all activities especially so that Pudtol was recently accorded recognitions on efforts in different developmental areas of governance.
Pascua appeals to the people of Pudtol to continue to practice and follow the minimum public health standards such as wearing of face masks and face shields, maintaining proper hygiene with washing of hands or using alcohol and sanitizers, and observing social and physical distancing, as defense against the COVID-19.
“I am asking all yPudtol to continue our vigilance and strict compliance to all health protocols as I humbly request everyone for your prayers,” he said. The municipality of Pudtol has recorded 19 COVID-19 confirmed cases with 17 already recovered and two active cases including the mayor.(JDP/RMC- PIA CAR)
