Tan, Salvana assures Sinovac safety after receiving jab

CALAMBA CITY, Mar. 4 (PIA) - Filipinos have nothing to worry about regarding the safety and efficacy National COVID-19 vaccination program, policymakers from both the national and local government assured earlier this week. 

House Committee on Health Chair and Quezon Fourth District Rep. Angelina Helen Tan received her Sinovac jab at the vaccination rollout held at the Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City. 

Meanwhile, National Institutes of Health at the University of the Philippines Manila Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Director and Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Clinical Associate Professor,  Dr. Edcel Salvaña assured Filipinos that antibodies in the vaccines can provide almost 100% protection against the deadly virus fter receiving his COVID-19 vaccine dose.

“Napakalaking kapananatagan ng loob ito sa aming mga healthcare workers na araw-araw ay nagbubuwis ng buhay upang alagaan ang ating mga kabababayang nagkakasakit.” Salvaña said. 

As one of the leading infectious diseases experts in the country, Salvana said those who received their vaccines are required to acquire one more dose for optimum protection against the virus. 

Dispelling fears on the quality of the vaccines, Salvana assured Filipinos that every vaccine brand that provides the same results. 

Ang pinakamaganda at pinakamabisang bakuna ay ang bakuna na nandito na at nababahagi na sa ating mamamayan.” 

Earlier this week, some members of the National Task Force Against COVID-19, including vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. and testing czar Vince Dizon got inoculated against the coronavirus using vaccines from Chinese manufacturer, Sinovac Biotech, in a bid to dispel doubts on their safety.
