Laguna starts COVID-19 vax program simulations

CALAMBA CITY, Mar. 4 (PIA) - Laguna province is now prepared for the upcoming rollout of the national COVID-19 vaccination program after receiving the Department of Health Region IV-A (DOH 4-A)’s seal of approval, following the Vaccination Simulation Exercises held last March 3, Thursday.

Medical frontliners from several municipalities--such as Siniloan, Mabitac, Pangil, Kalayaan, Famy, Pakil, Santa Maria, and Paete--joined the Simulation Exercises for the mass vaccination, which kicked off in Santa Cruz and Pakil.

The Laguna Provincial Capitol Grounds in Santa Cruz, and Laguna Provincial Hospital- General Cailles Memorial District Hospital were some of the venues where vaccination teams simulated the inoculation process, starting from screening, counselling, documentation, as well as the vaccination itself.

Local health units from other areas, such as Majayjay, Lumban, Pagsanjan, San Pablo, Calauan, Nagcarlan, Liliw, and Rizal, also took part in the simulation to familiarize themselves with the vaccination process.

Meanwhile, the Regional Health Office Surveillance Unit commended the General Cailles Memorial District Hospital for deploying supervisors tasked to oversee the compliance to proper infection control measures in the facility.

“Sana ay mayroong dalang I.D. ang ating vaccinee, dahil ito ay isa pang paraan upang i-validate [ang mga dumating na babakunahan],” Laguna Provincial Health Team Leader, Dr. Gigi Janairo, suggested.

Led by the Department of Health Region IV-A and the provincial government, around 50 health workers in the province joined the exercise held in the Capitol.

Necessary preparations in the simulation venues were also put in place in the vaccination areas, including the cold storage facilities, ambulances, and emergency medical teams who also simulated emergency medical response for adverse effects and other health emergencies  during the actual vaccination.  (PB)
