LEGAZPI CITY, Apr 30 (PIA) -- Ms. Rica B. Marfil, a sophomore Civil Engineering student of Bicol University (BU), and resident of Brgy. Ligban, Camalig, Albay, was hailed as the champion in the recently concluded S!NERGY International 2021 Competition.

Representing the Asia Pacific region with her piece, "Project NCT" which stands for Nurturing Child's Talents: Scaffolding Technical Vocational Training to Children with Special Needs, her advocacy focused on upholding the rights and provision of livelihood programs for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

"I see hope in their disabilities, just like someone have seen hope in my vulnerabilities," Marfil quoted in her presentation.

Prior to Marfil's recent achievement, her Project NCT qualified her through the screening which thereafter catapulted the 19-year old to compete at the international level.

As the champion, besting competitors from Russia, Nicaragua and two from Korea, Marfil received a certificate and $5,000 intended to fund her project.

With the implementation of her project, Marfil earlier called for potential partners and sponsors who are willing to help in her cause of helping children with special needs.

S!NERGY (Students × Ideas × Energy)  tournament is an engaging and dynamic public speaking competition,  initiated by Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the Mother of Peace and the founder of International Association of Youth and Students for Peace (IAYSP or YSP), where  students share their projects and innovative ideas.
