DOT: Tourism frontliners part of priority group for COVID vaccines

ILOILO CITY, April 28 (PIA) – Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said that tourism frontline service personnel are part of the priority group of the country’s vaccination program against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Nasa priority list ang ating mga tourism frontliners,” Romulo-Puyat said during the virtual press conference held April 28, 2021.

Romulo-Puyat said it is crucial that frontliners receive the vaccine, particularly those working at ports of entry and those who serve at accommodation establishments that have been repurposed as quarantine facilities.

“Importante na mabakunahan para hindi na tumaas ang cases ar protektado ang mga tourism workers,” she said.

As contained in the Interim National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) for COVID-19 Vaccines Resolution No. 1, tourism frontliners fall within Priority Group iv. A4: Frontline personnel in essential sectors including uniformed personnel and those in working sectors identified by the Inter-Agency Task Force as essential during enhanced community quarantine.

Recently, frontline workers in hotels and accommodation establishments have been included in the A4 or the group of frontline personnel in essential sectors who are included in the priority for COVID-19 vaccination. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
