PHO on top of the situation in the rising COVID-19 case

SAN JOSE, Antique, April 5 (PIA) - - The Antique Provincial Health Office assured the Antiqueños that the health authorities are on top of the situation in view of the rising cases of COVID-19 in the province.

Dr. Leoncio Q. Abiera of the Antique Provincial Health Office said that the local health authorities here are instituting response measures to ensure that affected frontline workers are given proper support.

He said that the personnel of Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH), which was affected by COVID-19, are now being managed following the protocol.

Immediate contact tracing was conducted; isolation of affected individuals is also being undertaken while Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test was done in batches to ensure that the personnel are safe while performing their work.

The ASMGH now is under the Enhanced Containment Infection Control and Sanitation Measures to ensure safety of the health workers as well as of new admissions once the hospital resumes its regular operations.

Until today, April 5, the ASMGH’s admissions are being referred to other hospitals in the province while the containment infection control and sanitation measures are ongoing.

Patients can go to Antique Medical Center, Ramon Maza Memorial District Hospital and other medical facilities in the different municipalities.

In the case of Antique Medical Center as a private hospital, the Provincial Government is exploring some measures to help the patients admitted when the disinfection was conducted. The help could come from the Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients Program or Aid to Individual in Crisis Situation of the Provincial Government.

Meanwhile, the Antique Inter Agency Task Froce (IATF) on COVID-19 also enjoined all the municipalities to activate their temporary treatment and monitoring facility in their area in anticipation to the surge in COVID-19 positive cases.

Governor Rhodora Cadiao, during the meeting of the Provincial IATF on Saturday, April 3, called on everyone to cooperate with the measures undertaken by the health authorities and the IATF in view of the rising cases of COVID-19 here.

For her part, Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, in her Facebook post,  also urged everyone to refrain from spreading fake news or sowing negativity.

“We need everyone’s cooperation and support so we can all together succeed in fighting this COVID-19 virus,” Legarda said. (JBG/PSM/PIA Antique)
