Save the Children turns over livelihood support to Tugaya handicraft producers

MARAWI CITY, Apr. 1 (PIA)--Culminating the celebration of Women's Month, the Save the Children Philippines provided livelihood support to four groups of local handicraft producers in the municipality of Tugaya, Lanao del Sur.

The groups, composed of 400 women and men in total, will undergo skills training and will receive equipment and materials that they need in order to ease up their production process and improve the quality of their products.

These beneficiaries produce various Maranao products such as brasswares, woodcarving, traditional weaving, embroidery, among others.

The group will also be part of the value chain that Save the Children and Raheemah Peace Weavers Producer Cooperative are establishing to support the marketability of their products through the Raheemah Economic Hub.

The assistance is supported by Asian Development Bank - Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) Emergency Assistance for the Reconstruction and Recovery of Marawi. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
