CALOOCAN CITY, May 8 (PIA) -- Some 114 Navoteños have completed various technical and vocational courses from Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Of this number, 36 completed the Japanese Language and Culture I while 12 graduated from the Japanese Language and Culture II program.

Fifteen of the graduates, on the other hand, finished Korean Language and Culture I.

Meanwhile, 16 trainees completed and received national certification (NC) II for housekeeping, 15 for food and beverages services, and 20 for barista.

Mayor Toby Tiangco congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to use the skills they have acquired to start or find livelihood opportunities.

“It may take a while before we can go back to normal and regain the economic stability we once enjoyed.  Nevertheless, you must continue to create the life you want for yourself and your loved ones. Take advantage of the skills you have gained to help your family surpass these trying times,” he said.

Navotas has four training centers that are open to Navoteño and non- Navoteño trainees.  Residents may study at the institute for free while non-residents may enroll and take assessment exams for a fee, depending on the course they will take.

Enrollment is ongoing for courses in Beauty Care NC II, Hairdressing NC II, Massage Therapy NC II, Food and Beverages Services NC II, Barista NC II, Cookery NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, and Food processing NC II.

Also available are Tailoring NC II, Dressmaking NC II, Japanese Language and Culture I and Korean Language and Culture I.

Earlier, Navotas, through TESDA-NAVOTAAS Training Center, opened the first assessment facility for Domestic Work NC II in Metro Manila. (PIA NCR)
