PASIG CITY, May 10 (PIA) -- At least 43,000 individuals belonging to priority groups have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Pasig City, Mayor Vico Sotto announced Sunday, May 9 on Twitter.

“Pasig LGU has now vaccinated over 43K people (1st dose). Sa seniors mahigit 25 percent na tayo ng target,” Mayor Vico said.

He also announced that over 20,000 senior citizens in the city have been given their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

To prevent congestion of inoculation sites, the mayor earlier appealed to residents not to arrive too early at their designated vaccination areas.

According to Sotto, Pasig City will not yet open a new vaccination site as long as there is still no enough supply of COVID-19 vaccines.

He also said the Pasig City Government has ordered 400,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.

As of May 7, data from the Pasig City Health Department recorded a total of 962 COVID-19 active cases.

Sotto, meanwhile urged the public to strictly follow the health protocols to prevent further virus spread. (PIA NCR)
