DAVAO CITY, May 14 (PIA) – Mayor Jason John Joyce of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental said that majority of about 4,000 to 5,000 of their senior citizen populace are expected to be vaccinated as soon as COVID-19 vaccines will be available in the municipality.
Joyce said that almost all of their senior citizens have been eagerly waiting for their turns to be inoculated, adding that there’s not much difficulty for the local government to convince the A2 priority group sector.
He added that their vaccination teams will be visiting the 26 barangays in the municipality, which are all geographically isolated and disadvantage areas (GIDAs), to administer the vaccination activities.
As of date, a total of 235 health care frontliners in Jose Abad Santos have been inoculated for the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccines.
Joyce bared that 132 from the A1 priority group sector are still awaiting for their first dose jabs.
He said they are set to schedule soon the vaccination for the remaining health care frontliners since additional vaccines have just arrived in the municipality and are now available.
The health care frontliners include the personnel of the rural health unit, barangay health workers, Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs), personnel of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and operation center.
The mayor also mentioned that aside from the masterlist of the health care frontliners, they have already prepared the masterlists of the A2 and A3 priority groups. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)
