BUTUAN CITY, May 31 (PIA) -- Even with the prohibition of face-to-face classes in the Caraga region, the Department of Education (DepEd) - Butuan City Division continues to advance a holistic societal development of the learners through its Youth Formation Program.
In partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas - Butuan City, A hundred kindergarten and grade school students from the schools in barangays Masao and Agusan Pequeño in this city became recipients of the health wellness kits that were distributed.
The simple turnover program was attended by Margie Marte, deputy director of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas-Butuan, schools division superintendent Marilou Dedumo, together with Evangeline Razon, youth information program focal officer. The school heads, district supervisors, teachers, and barangay officials were also present and gladly accept the kits intended for the learners.
The health wellness kits, comprising of face masks, face shield, alcohol and soap, were then immediately handed over to the student beneficiaries.
“Thank you Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas - Butuan for extending your support DepEd-Butuan. We know that these kits are essential for the health and safety of our learners especially during this time of the pandemic. We are hoping and praying that we could strengthen our partnership so we can sustain all our programs for the young Butuanons as we uphold our mantra - One Butuan, We Love as One,” said Dr. Mariolou B. Dedumo, schools division superintendent of the DepEd – Division of Butuan City.
The student recipients conveyed their gratitude for the assistance in a form of a health wellness kit that they received.
“Maraming salamat po sa inyong pagbibigay halaga sa aming kalusugan at kaligtasan,” said Kezia Mae Pagsiat, president of the Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) of Masao Elementary School.
A smile also radiated from the innocent face of Sheila Mae Uba, a kindergarten pupil. “Thank you so much. Masayang-masaya po ako sa aking natanggap,” she said.
According to Marte, it may not be as grand as it is, however, it is important to stay healthy and safe especially with the worsening situation due to the pandemic.
“These kits are essential for their daily hygiene routine to get rid of the virus,” said Marte.
She likewise reminded the learners to continue practicing the health standards such as the regular washing of hands, wearing of face mask and face shields, social distancing, and staying at home.
“Sana ay marami pang mga mag-aaral ang mabiyayaan ng nasabing health wellness kits para kahit papaano ay makakapagbigay tulong tayo sa kanila kahit sa ganitong paraan. Salamat din sa ating masipag na Youth Information Program focal person na si Ms. Evangeline B. Razon sa kanyang assistance at pagsisikap para maisulong ang programang pangkabataan,” said Tammy Tara Moldes, SPG adviser of Masao Elementary School.
“At this trying time of the pandemic, we are all aware that even the world is at its grinding halt because of the impacts made by the COVID-19. It is in this lens that we give priority in addressing the pressing needs of the students,” said Razon. (VLG/PIA-Caraga)
