CALOOCAN CITY, May 11 (PIA) -- Metro Manila mayors are set to meet on Wednesday, May 12, to deliberate on their recommendation regarding the next quarantine status for the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus Bubble, Metro Manila Council Chairperson and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said in a radio interview.

Olivarez said, however, the meeting of the Metro Manila mayors usually happens every Sunday night.

“Bukas magkakaroon po ng pulong ang MMC para malaman po natin yun pong magiging consensus ng mga mayor," the mayor said this morning.

Olivarez said with the number of COVID-19 cases improving in Parañaque, he sees the easing of quarantine restrictions in the city as possible.

The reproduction number in Paranaque is already less than one at 0.63, he said, adding that the number of active cases and the hospital utilization rate in the city have also gone down.

Olivarez, however, noted that while his city is doing good, his stand on the next quarantine status for NCR will be one with the entire Metro Manila Council.

The NCR is under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until May 14 after the extension set by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to curb COVID-19 trajectory. (PIA NCR)
