CALOOCAN CITY, May 18 (PIA) -- The City Government of Navotas on Monday started inoculation of registered, qualified residents and workers under the A2 and A3 priority group with Pfizer BioNTech vaccines against COVID-19.

Navotas received 1,170 vials, each containing six doses, from the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines secured by the national government.

"To ensure we can provide the logistical requirements of these vaccines, the city government put up a cold room in Navotas Polytechnic College and procured a bio-refrigerator, single insulation transport cooler, and two ultra-low temperature freezers than can reach -86℃,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine allocation was given only after the national vaccination committee was assured that we are equipped to properly handle its storage and administration. Every is important and we are one with them in ensuring that none will be spoiled and wasted,” Mayor Toby added.

The city government earlier procured a bio-refrigerator, single insulation transport cooler, and two ultra-low temperature freezers than can reach -86℃.

The refrigerator is used to safely keep vaccine diluents, while the freezers can store 23,400 to 35,100 vials of sensitive and extremely cold temperature-dependent vaccines.

As of May 16, 16,742 Navotas residents and workers have received their first jabs, while 3,715 individuals have completely their two doses of the vaccine.  Of this number, 793 are frontliners, 939 senior citizens, and 1,983 persons with comorbidities. (PIA NCR)
