Soon to rise TESDA Cagayan Prov'l Training Center in Gattaran to offer 7 programs

GATTARAN, Cagayan, May 28 (PIA) - - - To make scholarship and training accessible across the region, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Cagayan Provincial Office has partnered with the local government unit here for the construction of a training center.

The 1,000 square meter lot located in barangay Nassiping will soon house PTC-Cagayan for a period of 25 years which was made possible through a Deed of Usufruct signed between Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña and Gattaran town Mayor, Matthew C. Nolasco. The signing of the deed was held on Feb. 20 during Lapeña’s visit in the region.

Acting Regional Director and TESDA Cagayan Provincial Director Archie Grande, during the ground breaking ceremony held yesterday, said the training center shall be done on a Training-Cum-Production Scheme by the scholars of PTC-Cagayan in Carpentry NC II.

Once completed, the training center, will offer seven programs to include Driving NCII, Bread and Pastry Production NCII, Tile Setting NCII, Organic Agriculture NCII, Masonry NCII, Carpentry NCII and EIM NCII.

“Five provincial trainings were established in the region in response to Memorandum Order No. 269 issued by Director General Isidro Lapeña. Provincial training centers are established to respond to the growing demand for skills training and certification most especially those in the grassroots levels,” he added.

Felicidad Badajos, senior TESD specialist, said Gattaran was the first LGU that responded to their request of a building for the use of training center and  immediately offered its old disaster office with two rooms.

She added that in December 2019, the Driving NC II program was started.

“We were very grateful because of the efforts of the LGU to look for a lot. This is the very first LGU to have signed deed of usufruct for a lot in region 2 and was given an allocation of P600,000 for the construction of the one storey lecture room under training cum production,” Badajos added.

The ground breaking ceremony was also attended by Ret. General Roberto Damian, consultant to the Office of Provincial Governor Manuel N. Mamba, LGU-Gattaran Sangguniang Bayan Member and Chair of the Committee on Education and Culture, Rogelio Marun and Barangay Captain Sonia Pagulayan. (MDCT/PIA-2)
