KIANGAN, Ifugao, May 28 (PIA) - - People without facemask outside residences and not observing physical distancing will now be penalized by virtue of the approved ordinance of this municipality for the implementation of said health measures.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan on May 25, 2021 declared valid and operative the municipal ordinance of Kiangan town requiring the mandatory wearing of facemasks and the observance of physical distancing as protection from COVID-19 and other emerging or reemerging life threatening respiratory infections and transmittable diseases.
The Kiangan Sangguniang Bayan explained that mandatory wearing of face masks whenever in public places is an additional measure that can be required from the people aside from practicing social or physical distancing.
“This measure will help prevent the spread of virus, regardless if they are symptomatic or not, also to protect the people and the community against the droplets coming out of one’s respiratory system,” they added.
The ordinance mandates all persons to wear and use face masks, ear loop masks, indigenous, reusable masks, handkerchief and other improvised masks in all public places. Other personal protective equipment are also encouraged.
All commercial establishments should conspicuously display at or near the entrance signages “No facemask, No Entry” and “Observe social/physical distancing including disinfectants.”
Any person not wearing facemask or an equivalent will be denied entry. A logbook shall be provided by public or private establishments and agencies for mandatory registration to fast track contact tracing purposes.
Any person found violating the ordinance will be penalized with a fine of P50.00 or one hour community service for the first offense; P100.00 or two hours of community service for the second offense and P200.00 or four hours of community service for the third offense.
For business establishments, P50.00 for the first offense; P100.00 for the second offense and P200.00 and revocation of business permit for the third offense. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
