CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, May 17 (PIA) – The city local government has opened a COVID-19 temporary treatment and monitoring facility over the weekend.
The facility is 100-bed capacity but it presently operates on a 67-bed capacity while work on the final phase is on-going and is targeted to be completed by end of the month. The structure sits on a landscaped site near the city evacuation center in Barangay Agbannawag furnished with air-condition system, internet wifi and TV monitors.
Mayor Darwin C. Estranero said the P25 million cost of the project was derived from the 2020 national government’s P93M Bayanihan fund assistance to the city for COVID-19 response operation.
Due to spike in COVID-19 cases in the province early this year, certain units of the pre-fabricated smart house type facility were opened for emergency needs last April.
Estranero said the city-LGU has planned to provide productive activities to those quarantined here and coordination is underway with provider institutions like TESDA.
Sharing some plans about the facility when the pandemic is over, Estranero said this can serve as evacuation center in times of emergency and disaster. It can also contribute in the income-generation efforts of the city-LGU for accommodation during trainings and seminars, he added.(JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
