CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, May 5 (PIA) – The entire city greets with pride its own son, Cadet First Class Michael Angelo Ariola Madriaga who is graduating as the Top 9 of the Philippine Military Academy “MASALIGAN” (“MAndirigmang SAmahan na Lakas at SandIGAN ng Bayan” Class 2021.
Born to a modest family in Laya East, Tabuk City, Madriaga enrolled as an engineering student at the Cagayan State University before he entered the PMA.
Madriaga until now can’t believe he landed among the Top-10 of their class saying he just did his best as a cadet.
“Sa una, hindi talaga ako makapaniwala kasi ordinaryong kadete lang ako. Ang ginawa ko lang, mag-aral at magpalakas tapos sumunod sa rules and regulation,” he said in a video posted by the PMA “Face-bok” page.
Emily A. Madriaga, Michael Angelo’s mother, said she and her family are overwhelmed with the honor their son has achieved as a cadet.
“The joy as a mother is really great for such an achievement of a son”, she said.
Madriaga was a consistent Dean’s Lister and Commandant’s Lister and held assignments as Company Executive Officer and Company Athletic Officer. He is also a constituent of the First Class Policy Board, Silent Drill Company, Chess Corps Squad and Marathon Corps Squad.
He is among the 164 –strong PMA “MASALIGAN” Class 2021 who will graduate this May 10. He will join the Philippine Navy as an Ensign.
Mayor Darwin C. Estranero congratulated Madriaga and another top performing cadet of the graduating class from Kalinga- Cadet First Class Jaevin A. Latugan from Tanudan who is the Athletic Saber Awardee, Male Category. He welcomes these prides of Kalinga to the real world where serving the country is a topmost priority.
