25 farmers undergo organic agriculture training

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, June 4 (PIA) - At least 25 farmers in Cauayan City are undergoing a 10-day organic agriculture training that started on June 1, 2021.

City Agriculturist Engr. Ricardo Alonzo, said the training , jointly conducted by the Local Government Unit of Cauayan City through the Agriculture Office and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) - Isabela, aims to provide the participants hands-on training on organic fertilizer and organic pesticide making to enable them to get  National Certificate (NC) - II from TESDA. 

Alonzo said the need to promote organic agriculture farming in the city is necessary to avoid the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides which are harmful to human health.

“Our farmers need to know how to produce and use organic fertilizers and pesticides in their farming, ” Alonzo said.

He said the city government will continue to assist them with the help of Department of Agriculture (DA) to further improve the use of organic fertilizers and pesticides to their respective crops. (BME/MGE - PIA-2/Isabela)
