GSIS starts processing financial aid for EC pensioners

ILOILO CITY, June 6 (PIA) - - The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has started the processing of the one-time financial assistance to all Employees Compensation (EC) pensioners under Administrative Order No. 39 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on April 19 this year.

“Our claims unit is now processing the financial assistance so that we could also disburse this to our EC pensioners here in Iloilo,” said Mike Arancillo, Information Officer of GSIS-Iloilo, in an interview over PIA Kapihan radio program aired over Radyo Pilipinas – Iloilo on Friday.

AO 39 allows the granting of a P20,000 one-time financial assistance to all EC pensioners, both from the public and private sectors, to help ease the financial hardships they experience during the coronavirus 2019 pandemic.

Arancillo said more than 200 EC pensioners in the government sector in Iloilo are expected to receive the grant. These pensioners are those former government employees who retired under Presidential Decree No. 626 due to work-related sickness, injury or disability.

He said spouses of EC pensioners, who died or EC survivorship pensioners, are also entitled to receive the financial grant from the EC Fund administered by GSIS.

EC pensioners will be informed once their checks are ready for release. For their schedule of claim of checks release they can email gsisiloilo@gsis.gov.ph.

Meanwhile, Arancillo asked for the understanding of members as the GSIS Iloilo Branch is temporarily closed until June 6, 2021 for disinfection of premises and to give way for the mass testing of employees and contact tracing. This after 23 employees contracted the virus, as of May 30.

He assured clients that operations of the branch continue as employees who are working from home continue to process their claims and requests.

“We refer you to our GSIS Iloilo Branch Official Facebook page for the latest announcements and updates,” said Arancillo. (laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
