Navy, TV5 Alagang Kapatid Foundation hold community pantry for Manila residents

PASIG CITY, June 6 (PIA) -- The Philippine Navy, through the Naval Task Force 83 and Civil Military Operations Unit – National Capital Region in partnership with TV5 Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. recently held a community pantry to Manila residents. 

Navy personnel, together with personnel from the foundation and local government unit held a two-day community pantry and has served residents of Brgy. 650 in Port Area, Manila.

Around 500 families received basic necessities such as face shields, facemasks, assorted foods, drinks, clothes and even toys for the children.

The activity was held in strict adherence to health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

To recall, Filipinos from various sectors are setting up community pantries to aid those left most vulnerable by the pandemic.

The idea behind the community pantry was that people could take as much as they need and donate whatever they can.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Navy continues to provide support to other government offices, local government units, and non-government organizations by providing logistical support as well as ensuring peace and order in the metropolis. (PIA NCR)
