Private hospital reinforces COVID-overran BPMC

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon, June 5 (PIA)—A privately-owned hospital here answered the call for help of patients-packed, mostly with COVID-19 infections, Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center (BPMC) in Malaybalay City.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Board Member Atty. Oliver Owen Babba Garcia reported this in a radio interview Monday.

He said the SP passed a resolution urging private hospitals to accept COVID-19 patients to mitigate the unusual daily admissions at the BPMC which is now fully occupied.

As president of Bukidnon Councilors’ League, Atty. Garcia said that the Bethel Baptist Hospital (BBH) at Sumpong, this city, volunteered to admit COVID patients soon as its special designated facility for such patients is ready by next week’s 15th of June. Bethel Hospital blazed the trail of the pioneering days of private hospitals in Bukidnon.

At the same broadcast interview, social comments and observations indicated that the COVID-19 transmissions hit even persons with no travel history outside of their community.

This prompted local health officials to warn the public to do more safety steps as they follow the repeatedly given normal health protocols.

The grim warning chills as it came in the wake of unconfirmed reports that the coronavirus is airborne. If so, the virus flits in the air and eerily moves unseen like rolling tumbleweeds. It goes where the wind blows. Whoever is out there in the open is endangered extremely by this deadly malady.

While the “airborne spread” of COVID-19 is still speculative, as explained by the World Health Organization, the local government units and health authorities here are urging the public to keep wearing a facemask and face shield; maintain at least six feet away from others; avoid large gatherings; wash hands often with soap and water; clean frequently touched objects and surfaces; stay at home; and get vaccinated as soon as eligible.
