CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao – Police agents have arrested two drug suspects and seized PHP680,000 worth of shabu during a drug sting operation in Wao, Lanao del Sur, a top regional police official here said Thursday.

Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, director of the Police Regional Office - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-BARMM), identified the suspects as Jamil C. Pobe, who was wounded during the buy-bust operation, and Jabar Tambak Balangitao, both of Wao, Lanao del Sur.

Authorities said the two big-time drug peddlers were arrested during the entrapment in Purok 5, Barangay East Kilikili around 4 p.m. Wednesday. Seized from the duo were one huge packet of shabu, mobile phones, and the marked money.

Unfortunately, Ugale said the main target of the buy-bust operation, a certain Andy Panaringan, of Maguing, Lanao del Sur, managed to elude arrest.

He said the suspects have earlier agreed to a transaction with a police poseur-buyer.

However, after the transaction was consummated and before the poseur-buyer could give his signal to the operating team, the suspects sensed that they were dealing with an undercover agent.

“One of the suspects grabbed the firearm of the poseur-buyer prompting other members of the operating team to shoot the suspects, hitting Pobe,” Ugale said in quoting the Wao police report.

Police officers brought the wounded Pobe to the Wao District Hospital and later moved him to the Kibawe Provincial Hospital in Kibawe, Bukidnon.

Ugale said charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 are being readied against the suspects. (PNA)
