Pinoy Covid-19 recoveries abroad climb to 14.1K: DFA

MANILA – The number of recoveries among overseas Filipinos who have recuperated from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) abroad has ballooned to 14,129 as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported 296 more recoveries over the past seven days.

The DFA also recorded 248 new infections and 74 fatalities, bringing the total number of active cases among Filipinos overseas to 8,264 and the death toll to 1,424.

"Similar to last week’s figures, there were more recoveries than new cases recorded. The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to monitor and assist our nationals abroad amidst the pandemic," the department said Tuesday.

At least 5,549 of the active cases are undergoing treatment in the Middle East/Africa region, 1,648 in the Asia Pacific, 959 in Europe, and 108 in the Americas.

The highest number of deaths is also in the Middle East/Africa with 928, followed by the Americas with 252, Europe with 130, and the Asia Pacific with 114.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last year, the DFA said 23,817 Filipinos have been infected in at least 103 countries/territories. (PNA)
