MANILA – Christmas just got merrier for a lone bettor from Cavite who became the first millionaire of the state lottery this month after winning the PHP5.9 million jackpot during Thursday night's Lotto 6/42 draw.

In an advisory on Friday, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said the bettor guessed the winning combination of 30-04-09-21-05-20 with a jackpot of PHP5,975,395.80. The ticket was purchased in Dasmariñas City.

To claim the check, the bettor must proceed to PCSO's main office in Mandaluyong City and present the winning ticket and two ID cards.

A total of 69 other bettors who guessed five out of the six winning combinations won PHP24,000 each, the PCSO said.

About 2,285 bettors got PHP800 each for getting four of the winning combinations while 29,255 bettors won PHP20 each for guessing three right combinations.

The 6/42 Lotto is drawn every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

In November, eight bettors were sole winners of the Lotto jackpot and three of them were from the National Capital Region.

As provided in the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law, lotto winnings of more than PHP10,000 shall be subject to a 20-percent final tax. Once the jackpot is claimed by the winner, it would be less than 20 percent.

The PCSO serves as the principal government agency for raising and providing funds for health programs, medical assistance and services, and charities of national character. (PNA)
