TACLOBAN CITY – Biliran province is now using the Vaccination Administration System (VAS) developed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to speed up the registration of information against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
DICT Eastern Visayas Regional Director Felix Tabanao Jr. said on Friday the system now covers all local government units in Biliran and their respective vaccination sites.
DVAS is a free software that can help vaccination sites cut down the Covid-19 inoculation processing time by half.
It digitizes the whole inoculation process, from registration, vital signs entry, health screening, inoculation recording, and post-vaccination monitoring of adverse events following immunization.
“It supports the streamlining of the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine, thereby improving the citizen vaccination journey by shortening turn-around time, generating greater productivity through streamlined report generation, and reducing the risk of errors through paperless transactions,” Tabanao said in a phone interview.
As of May 18, there are 131,164 fully vaccinated in Biliran province out of the 146,821 target population for Covid-19 inoculation.
Since the pandemic broke out, the province has recorded 2,173 cases.
The Department of Health has no updated report on the number of deaths, recoveries, and active cases in Biliran. (PNA)
