Two persons were reported killed while three others were injured when a military truck commandeered by a civilian rammed through a public market here on Sunday, Christmas Eve.
The vehicle from Task Force Davao was on standby in the Bankerohan public market where its crew was detailed to provide security when an unidentified civilian suddenly boarded it as the driver went out to urinate, leaving the engine running.
The truck hit several people before crashing into parked vehicles. A car and two motorcycles were damaged in the crash.
The incident occurred at around 5 a.m. as people started to flock to the public market.
The injured were taken to a hospital, while the bodies of the fatalities, a 43-year-old man and a 34-year-old women, were brought to a local funeral home.
Police promptly arrested the 44-year-old suspect.
The Task Force Davao expressed sympathies to the victims and families of the incident.
