TAGBILARAN CITY, May 23 (PIA) -- The first coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 positive Boholano Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who recovered and was cleared was finally sent home to reunite with his family on May 21, 2020.

This after his third polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test showed negative results, marking his full recovery.

Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap said he received the PCR results from the Department of Health in Cebu at about 2:00 p.m. on May 21.

“Ganinang alas dos sa hapon, nadawat nato ang usa ka malipayong balita gikan sa DOH. Ang OFW nga kanhi nagpositibo sa PCR test, hingpit na nga naayo ug nagnegatibo na ang resulta sa iyang PCR test,” the governor said in his Facebook post.

The said OFW went home at past 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.

He was the last from his batch to be allowed to go home from mandatory isolation and extended quarantine after he tested positive shortly before he went into quarantine.

Upon his arrival from Manila on April 27, the repatriated OFW and others were quarantined in a hotel in Tagbilaran City for 14 days.

The recovered OFW was officially the second positive COVID-19 patient listed in Bohol.

The province’ first COVID-19 case, the country’s third case, was recorded in late January through a 60-year-old Chinese woman who traveled to Bohol.

She was confined at a hospital in Tagbilaran City for a week and was discharged on Jan. 30.

She immediately left for China and has recovered from the disease.  (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)
