In line with the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ guidance to hold bloodletting initiatives, the activity aims to supplement blood banks amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Every drop of blood our soldiers give, whether in combat or in response to medical needs, is a symbol of our commitment to serve the nation,” said Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay

The Army chief also expressed hope that the bloodletting drive will help save lives.

According to PA, as of Wednesday afternoon, around 108 blood bags were collected from both active and reservist personnel and will be used in cases of emergency.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army also encouraged civilian volunteers to participate in their next bloodletting activity set on May 27. (Philippine Army/PIA-NCR)
