PASIG CITY, May 19 (PIA) – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) warns the public of unscrupulous person or organization who take advantage of the health emergency situation.

According to the BSP, the public should be wary of fundraising for fake charities or fraudulent donation drives that take advantage of the goodwill of the general public to help the needy or provide support to the frontliners and/or medical personnel.

BSP reminds the public and also BSP-supervised financial institutions (BSFIs) to remain vigilant and to take necessary precautionary measures against these new patterns of criminal behavior as well as emerging typologies on money laundering/terrorism financing (ML/TF) activities and other financial crimes being perpetrated amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
