DOH, DILG put up “LIGTAS COVID” centers

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 4 (PIA) - Department of Health (DOH)-10 Regional Director Adriano P. Suba-an said that in line with the "Joint Administrative Order" implemented by the DOH and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 and local government units are required to have "LIGTAS COVID" Centers to boost their capabilities against the pandemic, especially for Suspect and Probable cases with mild symptoms and their families.

Based on the "Guidelines on Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for COVID-19 cases," LIGTAS COVID centers aim to streamline the identification, admission, and management of contacts, suspected, probable, and confirmed cases of COVID-19 with mild symptoms who are not vulnerable persons, in households and communities.

“For mild cases, health intervention is preferred in a community level in collaboration with our Municipal Health Officers (MHOs), CIty Health Officers (CHOs), Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs), nurses, and other partners and key partners in our health in our community," DOH-10 Health Education and Promotion Officer (HEPO), Aian Rebollido Caridad shared.

This is a community-based management for suspected mild COVID-19 cases, including their families.

"The objective is to empower communities to deal with mild COVID-19 cases and to decongest hospitals, in order to give space for them for the severe cases since they are fully equipped for that," she added.
