Ifugao LGU uses Bayanihan Grant to aid more than 5,000 families

LAGAWE, Ifugao, May 29 (PIA) - - A  total of 5,775 families  of this town were given 25 kilos each of rice funded through the Bayanihan Grant for Cities and Municipalities (BGCM) to ease the impact of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Susan Gallangi said this comprises the third round of food assistance to Lagawe residents. .

Gallangi said the LGU received more than P9 million or equivalent to a one-month Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) of the municipality from the national wherein P7 million was allotted by the LGU for food assistance. Php5, 544,000.00 was spent for the purchase of the sacks of rice while the remaining Php1, 294,750.00 will be utilized for the LGU’s fourth round assistance to families with six or more members.

She disclosed that the amount of Php161, 250.00 was given as cash assistance to barangay Olilicon.

“This is where our taxes go and every family deserves a share,” Mayor Martin Habawel Jr.  said.

The BGCM is a one time financial assistance equivalent to a one-month Internal Revenue Allotment share of cities and municipalities which shall be used exclusively for COVID-19-related programs, projects, activities and expenses. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR)
