QUEZON CITY, May 6, (PIA) - - Considered as the most populous area in Mandaluyong City, Barangay Addition Hills is set to undergo a one week total lockdown starting May 7 to randomly test its residents against COVID-19.
Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos said the imposition of a total lockdown was recommended by the Mandaluyong City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) due to the high number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the area
“Barangay Addition Hills has the highest number of confirmed cases in the City and even in the entire country,” Abalos said.
Abalos initially met with the officials of Barangay Addition Hills, City Health Department officials, members of the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), Mandaluyong City Medical Center, Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army which resulted in a decision to put the entire barangay into a total lockdown for a week and randomly conduct rapid test to its 3,000 residents against COVID-19.
The mayor said those who will be tested positive will be placed in isolation facilities.
In preparation for the lockdown the city government started on Wednesday, May 5 the distribution of food packs to all the families in the barangay.
The mayor also said the guidelines for the total lockdown will be posted in the official Facebook pages of Mayor Menchie Abalos and Mandaluyong PIO.
Barangay Addition Hills to date has 57 confirmed COVID-19 cases with six deaths and 12 recoveries.
