BORONGAN CITY, May 5 (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar through Governor Ben P. Evardone, will be giving P2,000 all households not included in the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) fund where beneficiaries received P5,000 each.
The Governor announced this during the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) on COVID-19 with the local chief executives on May 4, 2020, at the Provincial Gymnasium, Borongan City.
“I will give P2,000 of course with the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan,” Evardone said.
“All households not included in SAP fund will receive, that is why I asked the Mayors to give me the lists of the names of households per barangay,” Evardone said.

Ms. Evelyn Afable Cruz, a cashier of Electronic Shop and a resident of Brgy. C, Borongan City, a non-SAP beneficiary said that she is very happy that the provincial government is willing to give P2,000 for every household.
“The provincial government is doing great service to their constituents in this time of COVID-19 pandemic crisis. This is a big help for us,” Cruz further said.
The governor clarified that those who will receive the P2,000 are also those households even with pension, government employees, and barangay officials.
There is a different scheme though for Barangay Tanods and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), as they will be receiving P1,500 each as an honorarium, they will only receive an additional of P500. As the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) receive a P1,200 incentive from the Province, they will also receive P800.
Gov. Evardone said that excluded are beneficiaries of SAP, TUPAD from DOLE, 4Ps, and Sure Aid Program. “The fund is separate from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) program. This is just the initiative of the provincial government,” Evardone concluded. (nbq/SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
