MisOcc provides transpo for returning OFWs, residents

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, May 29 (PIA)—In line with the order of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to repatriate the 24,000 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) for three days through air and sea travel, the provincial government here provided seven units of L300 vehicles for the "Balik MisOcc Repatriation Program."

In partnership with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Occidental and 17 local government units (LGUs), the returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and locally stranded individuals (LSIs) benefitted from the transport service to and fro Misamis Occidental.

“We have encountered many challenges to get the OFWs and residents to be home. But a government that cares for his people and families always finds ways,” Gov. Philip Tan said.

The governor urged all the OFWs from the province to inform and contact the LGU hotline or the Balik MisOcc page so that the provincial government will be able to prepare for their return.

“Atong paningkamutan kutob sa atong makaya ang pagdawat kanila [returning residents]. Dako ni siya nga problema pero kung ato ning tabangan sa pagsulbad magaan ra ni siya,” Tan said.

(We will really exhaust all efforts to receive [our returning residents]. This is a big problem but together, we can solve this and things will be all right.)

The seven units of L300 vehicles purchased by the provincial government are each worth P1.1 million. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
