Borongan records first COVID-19 case

BORONGAN CITY, June 23 (PIA) – A health worker in Tacloban City is Borongan’s first COVID-19 case, revealed reports from the Department of Health - Eastern Visayas on June 22, 2020.

According to records, Patient EV-431, a health worker at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center is the second confirmed COVID-19 case for the province of Eastern Samar.

In a message, Dr. Rodel Delgado, spokesperson of the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19, said patient last visited Borongan City on June 7.

Delgado further wrote in an official statement to the press, that the case is not a local case.

“Said health worker has not exposed anyone in the province as he/she has been in quarantine since exposure,” the provincial health office said further.

In subsequent statements, the PHO said it has requested a correction for the tagging of said result.

Because tagging of results is “software-generated,” and has tagged patient’s in permanent residence, correction may take some time. (nbq/PIA E. Samar)
