DepEd-Oz kicks off Brigada, Oplan Balik Eskwela via virtual program

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, June 4 (PIA)--A new concept of the Brigada Eskwela (BE) and Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) kicked off, June 1, here, through a virtual program which highlighted the engagement of stakeholders in addressing problems, queries, and other concerns in the preparations for SY 2020-2021.

With the theme, “Pagpapanatili ng Bayanihan Tungo sa Kalidad na Edukasyon para sa Kabataan," BE will be conducted June 1 to August 29. 
 The reconfiguration of OBE and BE will highlight the application of knowledge and convergence of efforts to address health and social issues at home, in school and community relative to the new framework.

Ozamiz City Schools Division Superintendent Jean Veloso said there will be “no face-to-face” conduct of classes until everyone is safe from COVID-19. However, DepEd will still provide learning opportunities to students without requiring them to come to school. Thus, the implementation of blended and distance learning. 

Veloso also said the activities in the new concept of “Brigada” will highlight partnership initiatives that would complement DepEd’s efforts to ensure that quality basic education will continue despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 and the implementation of its Learning Continuity Plan (LCP).

“We truly care for your safety the way we care for your learning continuity. Thus, we are preparing a lot of things for you to continue learning, the safest possible ways,” Veloso said.

BE in a new normal will focus on the preparation and strengthening of partnership engagement during the implementation of Basic LCP.

OBE, on the other hand, aims to address enrollment-related problems, queries, and other concerns. 

Veloso assures that there will be no physical enrollment for the first two weeks of June, as imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

Enrollment process

In the recent guidelines for the enrollment of SY 2020-2021 released by DepEd, former advisers of the students were mandated to coordinate with parents.

For the students to be enrolled, former class advisers will call the parents using the class register last year. The remote enrollment will run for two weeks and schools are mandated to exhaust all their means to contact their learners and parents.

For incoming and transferee students, they should notify the respective school of their choice. Schools have posted their contact  numbers outside school premises and on social media for easy access. 

DepEd-Ozamiz announced that the opening of classes for the basic education SY 2020-2021 will start August 24 and will end April 30, 2021. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
