CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, June 4 (PIA) – To further broaden the reach of the information campaign on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the region, the Department of Health (DOH) – 10 has embarked on going online in its campaign.
The first one, “The COVID-19 chronicles” created by NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine which provides accurate information and education for the masses through a series of comic strips which visually narrate and describe the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
The second website, FASSSTER (Feasibility Analysis of Syndromic Surveillance using Spatio-Temporal Epidemiological Modeler / https://ift.tt/2XsLPbH) is a web-based disease modeling and surveillance platform from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development, where-in the platform projects the real-time spread of the virus and its preventive and control measures in order to mitigate it.
In addition, the DOST in collaboration with various government agencies has also created TanodCOVID (www.tanodcovid.tugon.ph) which is an SMS-based self-screening website that encourages the community to report their COVID-19 related symptoms to empower local government units to identify hotspots for suspected and probable cases.
“These websites will give definite and exact information about COVID-19 to the public in a more approachable manner, we want to maximize the utilization of other mediums and other forms of information dissemination in a more palatable way for the masses,” DOH-10 Health Education and Promotion Officer (HEPO) Aian Rebollido Caridad said.
DOH-10 aims to leverage on the tech-savy generation in educating the public and spreading accurate information through online in order to promote COVID-19 health protocols and safety standards in the region. (VPSBautista/PIA10)
